Assessment

Each child has an assessment folder that provides information and evidence of the child's progress and work covered in the National Curriculum.

The National Curriculum tells the teacher what to teach and also describes the level a child is working at. The expected level is a nationally accepted judgement based upon the average expectations of children of the same age. The school regularly assesses children in reading, maths and science using nationally accepted tests and criteria .

Evidence of your child's attainment is also collected in their Assessment Folder and regular moderation exercises are held with staff throughout the year to ensure a fair assessment is made. All children take nationally recognised assessment tests (NFER, QCA) during the school's assessment week (May 9th 2005). Y3 children throughout all Sheffield's schools take some tests in October.

The first evening being an opportunity to meet the 'new' teacher and the July evening an opportunity, if required, to follow up the Annual Report.
