Admission

We are a Church Aided Foundation School and the governors are the ‘Admitting Authority’. It is they who manage the process; consider applications and then make offers of a school place by letter to you.

If you are considering applying for a place at St. John’s please follow the appropriate procedure.

Category 1 - Transfer from Infant School to join Year 3 at St. John’s in September 2006 (current Y2 pupils)

You will receive an application package which contains; a blue application form, the LEA’s ‘Guide for Parents’, St John’s School Prospectus and
applications guidance.

Complete the blue application form and the ‘additional information’ form because St. John’s is a ‘Church School’. This will support your application if we are over subscribed.

Return the forms to your Infant School.

The LEA will collect all the forms and forward them on to the St. John’s Governors Admission Committee.

Please note the ‘Deadline dates’ and follow the procedure carefully. Many schools are over subscribed and ‘late’ forms may harm your chances of getting a place. The admissions criteria is strictly adhered to.

Category 2 - Transferring schools mid year (any year group) or moving into year 4/5/6 in September 2006

Obtain a blue Common Application Form from St. John’s School.

Complete the form and return it to Deepcar St. John’s School Office.

You will receive a written reply from governors within 5 working days.

The Headteacher can give you an indication of available places in school but cannot offer you a place for your child.

If you are in any doubt about any aspect of applying for a place in our school, please ring the school or call in and we will help you. Living in the area does not guarantee or give you an automatic place in that school.
